As many of you know, Amanda and I got engaged last month.

Since then story of how we got engaged has been recasted to so many friends and family. Now as a photographer a story retold isn’t a full story until it is backed by images that you can share to relive a moment.

Turn the clock back to August 2015. With the help of someone dear to me, I secured the diamond in between a wedding shoot in Exmouth – yes it was that critical, and yes I was that busy. I had sweat running down my forehead. But deep down in me I knew it was the right one. I knew it was the perfect one.

Many credit card payments later, I finally got hold of this magnificent piece of rock. I also had to find the right supplier for her band. Amanda’s simplistic nature and elegance must show in her band – I knew exactly what design she wanted. Rohan from Rohan Jewellery helped me every single step through and made what I knew was the perfect setting for Amanda. They even got it ready within 3 weeks and with the help of my parents I collected it the day before. Talk about last minute decisions.

She had no clue, and I was ready with my plan.

Six on the second hand counting to 6pm. it was 26C, Sunday evening. 11th October 2015. Shops were closing (yes it’s Perth), traffic winding down. And I am going to propose to the girl of my dreams.

It had to be at our pharmacy – it was where we belonged, where I first casted my eyes on her.

54 roses for 54 best months of my life, 4 prescriptions each representing a true year highlight we have been together. I knew I had to get closests workmates and pharmacist colleagues.

Kevin was the scout to plug in my music player and our song Wedding Dress by Taeyang. Janae got the signal to walk in, followed by Rebecca and Shafia, in the order of their commencement dates at our store. Finally Renae with a bang with our 54 sized rose bouquet.

We celebrated afterwards at a dinner in Il Lido, Cottesloe. Little did she know that my last minute call-to-arms from all of our closest friends and family to meet us at the beach where I first asked her out 4.5 years ago.

I couldn’t have asked for it any better. To all our friends to surprised us that night: Ngoc Anh, Vuong, Mason, Yu Sheng, Lawan, Eddy, Ming, Tenita, Leon, Nagulan, Ryan, Alfred, Khuan, Janice, Chao, Alvin, Yi-Jun, Claira, Michelle, Tim, Eva, Evelyn, Victor, Audelle, David, Jacky, Leanne, Tsyr Zren, Jasmine and Danny. I’m sorry again if I missed out anyone that night.

Special mention to Nagulan, Alfred and Ryan for helping make the lights work powered by the car, Yi-Jun for the inspiration from his earlier engagement, and a huge thank you to Mason and David for taking photos at the proposal and dinner respectively, my dispensary girls Janae, Shafia, Rebecca and Chelsea; our beloved pharmacist colleagues Kevin and Renae. For without you guys this wouldn’t have happened.

And lastly, thank you Amanda for being my soulmate, rock and earth. And for saying yes to commit us to something so special. The best part of it all is that I can hold your hand to do this with you together. My promise is to never break that.

Now the two biggest questions we get everytime:
1. When’s your wedding date? and 2. who’s going to be your photographer?

All in due time guys, all in due time.

Love from your photographer, friend and now engaged.

Keegan and Mandy.
