The Melting Pot in Weddings – the definition of love

I’m writing this blog on the bus and train from Rockingham. My colleagues prefer to drive instead of public transport, but I absolutely love public transport. You save fuel, theres no heart attacks of driving at 100kmh, little traffic and you save the environment too. perhaps the best thing is that it gives you time to reflect. All this people around you, how they live their lives and how tired they are (we catch the 6.15am bus) but that’s another blog story :)

Anyways, I have really wanted to shed light on something that has been on my mind for a while now – the assimilation of two different races joined as one in the hand of marriage.

Weddings are a big part of a couples’ lives. It signifies the bonding of commitment, love and trust. Most of all, it brings together two people who have chosen to be one forever. No matter what the race, skin colour or culture. That is something I find truly inspiring.

Let me also share the experiences I’ve had from my humble days of shooting weddings, until today. I’ve always been amazed by the wedding couples that have come from different background, skin colour and culture. It is amazing how the world is coming together to form ‘beige babies’. The funniest part about all this is that ‘Yellow Fever’ (quote Wong fu Productions) really does makes sense!!

Let’s take a look at all my amazingly gorgeous two raced-couples that I’ve worked with over the past 2 and a half years:

Nicholas and May, March 2009 (my first wedding)

Bo and David, May 2011

Su Jing and Marcus, May & October 2011

Karen and Sebastien, November 2011

Sabrina and Matthew, February 2012

Ren and Lindsay, February 2012 (by Sean Pham)

Brooke and Vincent, March 2012

When I was single, I’ve always wondered how it would feel to be in love to marry another person. I shot weddings without realising how much a couple could love each other despite differences- skin colour, culture or race. Now that I’m attached, I finally understand how why suddenly everything doesn’t matter. It’s because a couple in love cherishes the very essence of our human existence – being together in unity and harmony.

And that – I feel – is a bond too strong to break.

Just a food for thought for everyone <3 Thank you for reading this far. <3 from your photographers and friend, Keegan, Sean and Mason The White Label Team.
