Stefani and Matthew’s Photobook

It’s arrived! 6 months in the making, but a masterpiece. Thanks Photobook Australia for the stunning quality.

I am SO IMPRESSED =) Stefani and Matthew this will be a perfect addition to your furniture ;)

Reminds me of a fairy tale book:

The quality is flawless.

Two weddings to shoot this weekend. It’s gonna be EXHAUSTING but we’re gonna absolutely love it!

A weekend that will never be forgotten…

Viva’s inching closer by the week – it will be 2 months from now that I will be sitting in front of two examiners in an interview which will either feel like a lifetime or like 2 seconds.

But after what happened on Saturday, I just had to break my mind free of pharmacy for a bit.

I have a new toy to play with:

16GB to show off some wedding photos and videos. 3G for the coffee meetups. Thank you Jake and Nags for the 10% and courier!

I also needed to find Chinese parasols for my upcoming wedding shoot, so after Janet’s Fremantle Markets recommendation (thanks Janet!) I decided to pop down again (after a crazy night’s out at Freo the night before) to check it out.

Free samples. Now you can understand why they were all Asians.

Tiramisu-flavoured coffee, yum… (if only I had a coffee machine!)

Such a talented (and cute) girl:

I was greeted by a stern “Please do not take any photos.” the after taking this photo. I asked “I cannot take any photos?”. She replied “No.” without reason. Sometimes I wonder if I truly was living in a free country.

As I was about to give up hope searching for those parasols, something inside booted me up the ass to ask me to ask (too many asses ask) shop tenants around for a parasol seller. But eventually…

Perfect. I’ve decided not to get 6 of em but just 1 nice red one.

The stark contrast between a black suit, a white dress and a red umbrella is gonna be stunning.

The most isolated city in the world.

Perth. The most isolated city in the world. Here I was standing outside Murray Street Train station. I remembered the air being chilly when I got there first thing in the morning. Armed with black 5D Mark 2 body and a long white pervert lens. And people looking at me funny.

“What’s this Asian guy in a black hoodie with his big pervert white lens he’s holding”, they thought. Half wits.

Anyway, I know I should be studying for the Viva. But I couldn’t help thinking to myself that if I don’t go for a leisure shoot soon, I will not be able to do it closer to the exam date anyway. So why not get over and done with it now.

Part of the reason why I’m here with my camera was also to visit points of interest where I can shoot Emily and Philip’s location shoot. Yes, it will be in the city yayyyy =)

But without giving too many ideas away (save it for when the bride and groom are actually in the pics), below are a few interesting shots I thought I’d like to share:

I saw this guy sitting down after a Maccas meal in front of an overpowering red brick wall. I love the isolation.

The flow of crowds through the city streets:

Black and white shadow play:

I remember walking pass the guy who held the sign “Hi I’m Homeless, any spare coins is GREATLY APPRECIATED”. Something inside of me died with the realisation that despite society’s elaborate support system, there are still cracks in which people fall through. I was so quick to take this photo because I worry that he may become unappreciative of my phototaking.

Love his blue guitar. He was playing some New Age track. I love the way Money was incorporated with the busker ;) Or maybe I’m just being a little too cynical:

Le Greenhaus.

Central Park:

Gotcha!

I saw the moment and I shot it. A quick lift-snap:

Convex reflections!

Fresh from the camera (raw and unedited):

Another quick shot:

Convex my world:

Quite often, people take for granted what’s abundant around them. There is so much to see and love about our isolated city. Yet we criticise it like there’s no worser place on Earth.

Shallow.

I love Perth <3
